DESCRIPTION:This workshop addresses ethics in the context of substance disorder counseling. The principles underlying all\ntreatment professionals’ codes of ethics are a focus\, as well as\, how these codes address issues relating to the\ncounseling relationship\, confidentiality\, counselor competence\, supervision\, the use of digital media and social\nnetworks\, artificial intelligence and dual relationships. Also\, participants will learn an ethical decision-making model\nthat can assist them in determining how to respond appropriately to challenging situations that arise in substance\nuse disorder treatment. In addition\, participants will learn the distinction between boundary extensions and\nboundary violations and recent guidelines to follow when considering a boundary extension.
